Australian International Fashion Film Festival

The Australian International Fashion Film Festival was back on it’s second year to celebrate the unique and innovative art form of fashion film. The event was held last 20th of October 2015 at Palace Verona in Paddington, Sydney. AIFFF aims to encourage international directors, production studios and film makers to work with fashion designers and artists to showcase the fashion industry through short films in a unique and exciting way.

As the doors opened at 7.00 pm, the evening commenced with us enjoying and savoring the welcome drinks and delectable canapes on offer, just before the show started.

In total, there were 71 short films, advertisements, documentaries and TVC movies ranging from different production companies, film schools, labels and designers. Some of the big brands on show – just to name a few – were Vera Wang, Chloe, and Prada.

My favorite film was ‘Break the Rules’ by Victor Claramunt – showing a short story of a fresh faced young girl who recently joined an all-girls boarding school with a very strict headmistress. A new friend teaches her how to break the rules by walking the halls after hours, swimming in the sea, playing with their cutlery and wearing amazing shoes which were not part of their uniform. The Film is based on the brand BibiLou, a young shoes brand that tells a story of how to break the rules and feel good about it.

There were countless other films of the sort, all with it’s unique take on fashion, brands, and their story. Plus, to top things off, after the show everyone got to take home a fab goodie bag appropriately suited to the occasion!

The overall experience was great and very interesting. I loved the fresh new approach of showcasing the industry, and can’t wait to see what they get up to next.
