Yes, it is true Old Sugar Mill is known for their unique wine tasting experience, with eleven wineries under the roof of a historical and dear building to folks in the Sacramento area. We love making an afternoon of tasting several local wineries, or buying a bottle and sitting on the back patio to enjoy with our loved ones.

So when Old Sugar Mill decided they want to host summer concerts, we were thrilled! One of their concerts I attended was The Summer Concert Double Header on Sunday, August 30th. The concert featured an Elk Grove band, The Maple Tones, as well as a Nevada City band, Achilles Wheel. The concert started at 6pm and the wineries stayed open for wine bottle purchases. Tasting finished at 5pm for most wineries.

Seating was easy for general admission tickets. There were hay bails set up in rows, as well as space for those who brought their own chair. The first band, The Maple Tones, played cover songs of pop hits, and the second band, Achilles Wheel, was described as having a Led Zeppelin feel.

I had the pleasure of meeting the concert organizer and she informed me Old Sugar Mill is still new to hosting concerts. I wouldn’t have been able to notice. I thought the event was well run and a perfect, relaxing, fun thing to do on a Sunday night. Old Sugar Mill hosts several other events during the year and has space for hire for private events. Check the website for upcoming concerts and events.
