Melbourne’s nightlife has its mainstays, and DJ Mark Pellegrini is one of them. On Saturday 30 May, Decades of Dance lands at Trak Centre to celebrate his 40 years behind the decks with a one-night-only event.
Pellegrini’s journey started in backyard parties and local clubs in Melbourne’s northern suburbs before moving into some of the city’s best-known venues, including Trak, Alumbra, Platform One and the Royal Melbourne Hotel. Over the years, he’s built a reputation for playing to the crowd, blending classic dance tracks, retro favourites and updated remixes that keep people on the floor.
This event brings that history into one room. Expect a three-hour DJ set from Pellegrini, alongside a lineup of familiar names including DJ Michael T and DJ Andreas. The night also adds live elements with percussion from Jason Heerah, vocals from Joy Soul, and sax by Jarrad Lees. ARIA award-winning vocalist Joanne will perform live, including her well-known track “Jackie.”
Beyond the clubs, Pellegrini has also been a regular feature at Melbourne’s Italian Festa for over a decade and has hosted more than 450 shows on KISS FM, building a steady following through his Rocksteady radio program.
Set inside one of Melbourne’s long-running nightlife venues, this feels less like a typical club night and more like a gathering of the community that’s grown around his music.
If you’ve spent time on a Melbourne dancefloor over the years, chances are you’ve heard Mark Pellegrini play. This is a chance to be there for a milestone moment.
