The Australian Open is the ultimate double-header: world-class tennis on the court and a world-class party right next to it. While the athletes were busy hitting winners, the newly revamped AO Live Top Court stage was delivering its own masterclass with a lineup that feels more like a boutique festival than a side-show.
We’re talking a stacked roster ranging from The Veronicas bringing the high-octane nostalgia to Hot Chip providing the eccentric dancefloor vibes. It’s the perfect way to cap off a day of elite tennis, especially when you’ve fueled up at the Shake Shack popup, because nothing pairs better with a backhand than a Burger and crinkle-cut fries. Tonight though, my plus one and I were here for The Presets!
The support acts did a stellar job of amping up the energy as the sun dipped, but when The Presets finally stepped out, the new stage really flexed its muscles. The visuals and lighting are a total level-up from previous years, a high-tech, neon-soaked assault of LEDs and lights that turned the entire precinct into a festival arena.
Kim and Julian played a perfectly calibrated set, seamlessly blending the OG club anthems like Talk Like That with their newer, glossier tracks. Hearing My People rattle through that massive sound system while the city skyline loomed in the background was a total peak summer moment. At moments completely hidden in a fog of haze, the pounding drum beats and catchy vocals of this duo were instant nostalgia.
Between the high-stakes tennis and the high-voltage beats, the AO has officially served up the perfect January, and judging from the lineup, there is a lot of good times to come.
The AO Live series has a packed lineup of local and international bands, check out the full lineup and get tickets here.
