Sunny days, sunsets, good vibes, and epic beats. That’s the mission of Palm Tree Music Festival which returned to Aussie shores this year to provide the soundtrack to your perfect summer.
Co-founders of the festival Kygo and Myles Shear know a thing or two about putting on a good show, and this years tour was no exception with a huge 100-minute set from The Chainsmokers and performances from Peking Duk, Gryffin, Austin Millz and Daya.
Moving from the previous years venue out at Flemington was a good call as Sidney Myer Music Bowl on the cusp of the Royal Botanic Gardens was transformed into a tropical oasis to host the Melbourne leg of the tour. The sun was out, and we were ready for Melbourne’s biggest party.
Aussie festival favourites Peking Duk electrified the stage with their high-energy performances and infectious beats.
Known for their house party vibes, singalong tunes and dynamic stage presence, the duo did not disappoint and had the crowd jumping from start to finish.
Frontman Adam Hyde really knows how to get the crowd going and was perfect for that time of day. We were surprised to hear that this was their first show at the ‘Bowl.
The headliners of the festival Chainsmokers took the stage as the sun was beginning to set for a magical 100 minute performance.
It’s sometimes easy to forget just how many chart-topping hits the duo have shared. “Paris“, “Closer” and “Don’t let me down” all had audiences singing along.
Their ability to blend electronic dance music with pop sensibilities created a truly unforgettable experience, and the elaborate stage lighting, fire and smoke effects and what felt like half of Melbourne partying behind the duo added to the energy. This is one performance we won’t be forgetting.
Beyond the headliners, the festival was packed full of talent, including Gryffin, Austin Millz, and Daya. Sadly Alesso had to pull out at the last minute due to health issues, which is completely understandable.
As the sun set, the Music Bowl was illuminated with colorful lights and plenty of lasers and confetti canons. The crowd, united by their love for music couldn’t help but loose themselves in the rhythm and the moment.
Palm Tree Festival fills a great spot in the always packed Melbourne festival season. It’s a chance to escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in a world of music and good vibes.
