ACMI Goddess Nights

Hollywood’s hottest and most rebellious goddesses have arrived in Melbourne, and they’re ready to tell their stories of challenging the norm, climbing to the top and forging the way forward for women’s rights.

ACMI’s newest exhibition, Goddess: Power, Glamour, Rebellion tells the stories of women from the past 120 years of movie history who have challenged gender roles, taken creative control and fought a system that tried to exploit them.

ACMI is opening their doors after hours for guests to experience Goddess Nights – an immersive evening with live DJs, femme-focused performances, food, drinks, and of course exclusive after-hours access to the new exhibit.

The exhibit brings to light the large victories and small steps for women shattering Hollywood’s glass ceiling, from Marilyn Monroe going on strike to Anna May Wong’s rise to stardom as the first Chinese-American film star in Hollywood.

The exhibition celebrates the women who continuously challenged social narratives, exude fearless creativity, artistry and expertise within their craft. These women are bold, courageous, and not afraid to speak their mind.

The interactive exhibition combines motion picture projections with original costumes, sketches, and other interactive media to tell the stories of these rad rebel gals.

Goddess Nights features a different line-up of DJs each night with food from Hero and wines from Handpicked Wines. Grab a glass of vino, soak up the live beats, and get inspired by the stories of these big screen Goddesses.

Goddess Nights run on select Thursdays through now to September. You can purchase tickets here. The exhibition is also available for viewing during the day.
