Melbourne’s newest food truck park is open for business. The brains behind the cult classic, Welcome to Thornbury, have cooked up a new precinct for their north side neighbours: Welcome to Brunswick. The new venue includes an expansive outdoor area; there’s enough space for four food trucks to roll in, along with plenty of room for dogs and 450 of your beer loving mates. There’s also a small brewery and an indoor/outdoor bar pouring a very long list of 4 Pines Beers (parent company CUB/Asahi). The brewery’s not operational yet, but they hope to be brewing beers onsite in 2020.
The food vendors rotate daily. And there’s good news for the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free folks – Welcome to Brunswick have requested all of the trucks and stall-holders have these options available. On the night we visited we feasted on fried goodness from Pasta Face. There were fluffy fries, rich gnocchi, and gooey mac & cheese croquet cubes. We also sampled a trio of tacos from Slow Eddy’s Barbeque (special shout out for the corn tortillas!) Not a bad combo with the Margarita Gose on tap – a zesty, slightly sour beer with a hint of lime.
After the sun goes down, you can cross over an alley (hey, this is Melbourne after all – just pretend it’s a laneway) and enter Brunswick Mess Hall for more late night drinks.
