HEROES Hawker-Style Barbecue Bar Launch

They say all heroes don’t wear capes; well this one comes in the form of a three level house of fun on Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Heroes is a hawker-style BBQ bar that is set to become one of the cities hot spots and The Plus Ones were invited down for the launch last week.

Heroes combines a vibrant roof top bar, a hawker inspired diner and karaoke action all into one venue. The brainchild behind the venture was none other than the team at Fancy Hanks. Fancy Hanks is a well-established player in Melbourne’s hospitality scene and their dedication to the patron experience shines through in Heroes.

We started off our evening taking the elevator to the rooftop and were greeted with Singapore Slings. The Plus Ones would never reject a welcome cocktail so I throw caution to the wind and say bye Dry-July, and hello Moist-July, sling and all!

After sufficient social lubrication our noses caught a waft of sweet BBQ smoke and we decided it was time to descend onto the diner. Our fabulous host Emma seated us in the eclectic room decorated in the style of dollar store chic and Emma made sure a cocktail was never far away. We were also treated to some more unusual hawker style delicacies like duck heart skewers but the chicken wings stole the show.

As the Dutch courage dug its fingers in, it dragged us down the karaoke room. Like a werewolf to the moon the microphone brought out my inner Eminem. I’m sure to the onlookers it was more of a Shrek in the Swamp Karaoke Dance Party scene but half the fun is making laughs!

If you have the need to let out your inner Karaoke slayer, or just keen to check out Melbourne’s latest roof top hang, Heroes is open to the public now, so get in before everyone finds out about this hidden gem!
