VAMFF 2018

VAMFF: Runway 3 presented by Harper’s Bazaar

Day 3 of Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) and next up we have Runway 3 presented by Harper’s Bazaar, supported by L’Oreal Paris at Priceline Pharmacy. Walking into the Royal Exhibition Building, the mood already sets the tone of fashion elegance. Iconic Australian model and face of Priceline, Samantha Harris, walks in front of me, as she takes a snap on the media wall.  Then follow Australian leading influencers in the industry alongside lovers of fashion.

Lights dim and dramatic metallic silver spheres top the runway.  Already, the set design speaks of ultra-modernism, tranquil yet of another world — perhaps an art direction visioning a higher dimension.

VAMFF 2018

This evening’s designer leading designer line up includes: AJE, Carla Zampatti, Kacey/Devlin, Macgraw, Manning Cartel and Rachel Gilbert.  To sum up this mid-week Melbourne runway — breathtaking. Absolutely breathtaking.

Kacey/Devlin open the runway with asymmetrical and metallic fabrics.  Silks and touches of glimmer in the Melbourne based collection ties collectively with the futuristic space.

Manning Cartel showed off some edgy yet sophisticated pieces, oh that emerald green – high neck-long sleeve blouse with the printed skirt, had me sighing ‘YASS!’

AJE still has me dreaming about the pink asymmetrical dress, with frills and drapes. Backless long garments with subtle long frills from AJE speaks of the forward femininity, delicate but empowering.

Carla Zampatti brings in the strong shoulder silhouettes, suit-like but long dresses, with super high splits; so alluring. Rachel Gilbert is up next with an old Hollywood glamour. Pristine fabrics and finishes with deeper emeralds; her timeless pieces are rich with textures.

Macgraw round up the Harper’s Bazaar presentation, with white lace long dress like a scene off ‘Picnic At Hanging Rock’ partnered with silver metallic boots with subtle connection of the futuristic space.

The runway finale had the models in monochrome pieces, white floating metallic and silver balls of different sizes.  Etheric and of another world.  Flawless, and like I said, breathtaking.

Runway 3 has been my favourite so far. Such different styles from all of the designers, yet a perfect concoction of all expressions of elegance.
