Night Noodle Markets 2017

The Night Noodle Markets, presented by Citi, are a feature of Melbourne’s foodie event-goer calendar. Located in the beautiful surrounds of Birranrung Mar the Night Noodle Markets make a fabulous use of the natural space its given.

A feature of the Noodle Markets, for mine, is the layout. Three distinct areas that take you on culinary journey through some of Melbourne’s finest Asian cuisine. Depending on where you enter you’ll walk through a lantern-lit walk way from Batman Avenue or along the Federation Square boulevard. My favourite spot by far is to perch myself on the Birrarung Mar hilltop with the city skyline in the backdrop. Couple this with a sunset, delicious fare and some Pimms and you have yourself a winner of a night out.

On the night we spent a lot of time in Pimms’ marquee area which is located on the ‘bottom’ section of the Markets. It’s a lush space, right near the river that has you feeling a bit special. Let’s Do Yum Cha and Hoy Pinoy had us feeling portly and after a few Pimms too many (is there a better summer-y drink?) we did a bit more exploration.

This year, there are well over 20 different restaurants catering to your every spice-laden desire. The section behind the Federation Bells is looking very spic with many of the venues having large ‘alfresco’ areas. Live music is set in the middle and you can just perch yourself by the Menulog space and have them bring dishes to you.

The Night Noodle Markets run from 9-26 November 2017. Make sure to spend a balmy night or three indulging your senses among the city sky line this season!
