Cellarmasters’ Meet The Makers Wine Tasting

Twenty of Australia’s best wine makers gathered on a cold, wet Melbourne evening to serve up their winning wines at the annual Cellarmasters’ Meet the Makers event in the Docklands.

Unlike many other wine tastings, Meet the Makers did not focus on a particular type of wine. Instead we were able to try various wines from wineries all over Australia and New Zealand.  On offer were some of the finest wines of the season from Australian winemakers like Neil McGuigan of McGuigan’s Wines in the Hunter Valley, and Nick Badrice of Krondorf in the Barossa Valley. It was a great opportunity to be able to chat to the wine makers, hear their stories and the stories behind their wine making journeys. This experience added an extra degree of understanding to their wine story.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the amazing food also available to have with the wines at this event. There was an amazing spread of breads, cheeses, cold meats, and antipastos, as well as roaming waiters serving hot canapés. It was lovely to be able to pair a champagne with some soft cheese to really get a full understanding of the flavour profile. It also helped to have food on hand to make sure we weren’t too inebriated by the end of the night.

Meet the Makers was a fabulous event, held in a classy location, with some delicious wines. Needless to say it’s now one of our favourite wine tasting events. We will definitely be back next year.
