Fancy being fancy? What better way to do this than at the top end of Melbourne’s Collins Street? Colloquially known as the ‘Paris’ end of town, you can now indulge in a Parisian High Tea at The Sheraton.
This high tea isn’t just cucumber sandwiches and scones though. Set in a space built by the same team that made Sydney’s The Ivy, you start with Bollinger or Lorimer champagne.
Then wander over to the savoury section to try a very large range of delicious bites. Much more than the humble cucumber sandwich, this savoury smorgasbord include mushroom arancini, poached prawns on savoury pancakes, smoked salmon and avocado on a brioche bun, smoked beef to name a few. The list is substantial. And don’t worry, there is also a cucumber sandwich to be found for those that wish to partake.
I’d suggest not overdoing with the savoury section (lesson learned!) if you want to try all of the desserts. I tried but just couldn’t make it through. There were so many delicious treats to choose from. Picture blood orange eclairs, coconut and lime mousse cake, grapefruit curd tarts, mango domes, peach panna cotta and more.
Did I mention there is an entire crepe station? Well there is! These crepes goes down a treat with the house-made honeycomb butter and the tea range.
The high teas tend to sell out in quick time. Especially when there is a special occasion such Mother’s Day for example. If you’re looking for more than just cucumber sandwiches and scones, this is a fabulous high tea experience.
