Melburnians love their markets, and the Queen Vic is the market to rule them all. On the back of the immensely popular Summer Night Market series, the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market is set to launch on 7 June. Every Wednesday from 7 June to 30 August 2017, the Winter Night Market has what you need to warm those cold Melburnian cockles.
If the opening preview was any indication, there will be plenty of warming to be had. The night market area itself is sprinkled with gas heaters and fire pits. It’s a bit cosier than its illustrious summertime cousin — but with 50 speciality and designer traders each Wednesday, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained.
My favourite thing to do is make a beeline towards the hot cider, head over to a fire pit near a stage, and soak in the atmosphere. Post-cider, there’s nothing like some delicious mulled wine from the ReWine team. It’s spicy and delicious! I learned that you can actually purchase the formula as well. $15 gets you four litres of mulled deliciousness.
Aside from beverage options, I can highly recommend the warm butter milk pancakes. These come in Oreo, peanut butter, and Nutella flavours and are served with delicious lashings of whipped cream and M&Ms.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Melbourne over the winter months, the Queen Victoria Night Market is a must do on any Wednesday night.
