RnB Fridays Live – all the greatest hits

Ever wanted to see some of the best RnB bands from around the world live at one huge concert?  We were lucky enough to do just that at RnB Fridays live.

After launching as a Hit Networks radio show in 2015, RnB Fridays is now one Australia’s most popular programs that plays the best RnB hits from the early 90s all the way through to today.  RnB Fridays Live brought all the excitement of this show to packed audiences across Australia.  Collectively the artists on this lineup have sold more than 84 million records and picked up 12 Grammy Awards from 36 nominations. That’s a lot of hit songs.

The full lineup included: Nelly, TLC, 112, Miss Mya, Montell Jordan, Blackstreet, Blu Cantrell, Fatman Scoop, Kevin Lyttle, and Dante Thomas.

With almost a dozen chart-topping artists playing, my plus one and I made sure that we arrived early in the evening to see as many performers as possible. After an interesting performance from Blackstreet, Mýa was joined on stage with her dance troupe and showed Melbourne that she still has star power. Before this event we would have struggled to name her songs, though once she started singing these hit tunes were instantly recognisable.   Our favorite parts of her set were ‘My love is like… Wo‘ and ‘Case of the Ex‘.

There was no downtime between sets with the DJ counting down the top RnB songs of the night with matching music videos.  The crowd kept on dancing throughout the breaks – the energy was near breaking point by the time TLC strode onto stage.

TLC was a highlight of the evening for us.  The duo was joined on stage by dancers and at one point in their set they pulled a lucky audience member up on stage to dance with them.

The night was hardly over. When Nelly’s ‘Hot in Here‘ came on the crowd lost it.  As the headlining act, we were not disappointed. As his show came to an end and the confetti cannons exploded shiny paper over the crowd, we were impressed by the excellent lineup and great night.

We didn’t go chasing waterfalls.
