Scott Pickett’s Estelle at Caulfield Cup Carnival

While some may see it as the relaxed little sister of The Melbourne Cup, The Caulfield Cup and spring racing carnival is always a highlight for us at The Plus Ones. One of the best aspects of the spring racing season in Melbourne is the strong focus on bringing high-quality restaurants to feed hungry punters.  The carnivals include far more than racing; live music by excellent Australian bands, fashion on the field and some world-class drink and dining options means there is something for everyone at these events. We even hear rumors that some people attend without seeing a horse once, but you didn’t hear it from us.

This season we are especially excited as acclaimed Melbourne chef Scott Pickett is bringing his delicious Northcote restaurant to the 2016 Caulfield Cup Carnival for the first time. Five years after opening their doors, Estelle continues to push culinary boundaries and deliver consistent, delicious and world-class dining right here in Melbourne.

You better hurry to purchase a ticket for access to this very special (and seriously delicious) marquee to take full advantage of the race day menu. Some of the tasty dishes you could be biting into on the day include the Saskia Beer chicken with foie gras and black truffle, John Dory with macadamia and pickled shallot, and Flinders Island lamb with zucchini flowers and spring peas. There is also a signature dessert featuring macerated strawberries, lemon verbena meringue and citrus cream.  Our mouths are drooling just thinking about it! If that wasn’t enough, guests of the Estelle Marquee will also be treated to afternoon tea menus featuring fancy jaffles, Wagyu sausage rolls, and chocolate mousse with honeycomb.

For those who miss out on tickets to the Estelle by Scott Pickett Marquee, don’t be too sad. You can still enjoy Scott Pickett’s limited menu from the Mistress Estelle food truck in the General admission area, as well as offerings from much-loved Melbourne institutions Mr Miyagi, Mamasita and Red Door Yum Cha.
