Comedy Festival: Arj Barker

What’s the worst thing that any comedy-goer fears when seeing stand-up. Being late. Being late to a person who can take you apart for being late. Well we were late, only five mins and to my relief Arj Barker wasn’t on stage yet. Instead it was Joel Ozborn, who spent a good minute on us in front of a 1,000 person plus Palais Theatre audience, and I loved every second of it. So much so that I’m going to see his show too!

I try and make a point of seeing Arj every year at the Comedy Festival. He is simply excellent and his materially is always fresh – or should I say, ‘Organic. See what I did there? The difference between seasoned pros and up and coming comedy acts can be stark, but 1,000s of shows and no doubt many failures conditions an entertainer, and with ‘Organic’ your comedic soul is well nourished.

Arj takes us from skit to skit flawlessly and spends a considerable amount of time on his new-found love for organic diets. Gluten-free, it’s not so bad…

He is a true pro, and if you want to see a headliner this year don’t go past his new show!
