Comedy Festival: Beer Makes Me Funny with Melbourne Brewery Tours

Beer, Pizza, and Comedy. Melbourne Brewery Tours knows what we like. I joined a merry group of beer drinkers for their Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, ‘Beer Makes Me Funny‘. This unique comedy festival experience included everything we needed for a fun night out – a visit to three different boozy venues, tasty food, transportation, and a comedy show. After welcome drinks at Beer DeLuxe, we jumped in the beer chariot for a cheery ride to Moon Dog Craft Brewery.

Local comedian Jackson Voorhaar came along for the ride – keeping us entertained and our beers topped up. The brewery provided us with tastings of four weird and wonderful brews from their range. (Our taps for the night included Perverse Sexual Amalgam and Herbie Goes to Caliente Town.) Next, hot pizzas hit the table – delicious homemade dough made using yeast from the brewery provided the base for a variety of fresh, local ingredients. After the flavour explosions, we were whisked off to Temple Brewery. As we settled into the upstairs function space, tasting trays magically appeared in front of us. They featured five classic styles ranging from the Powerstance Pilsner to the New World Order American Stout.

Ready to prove that ‘beer makes me funny,’ Jackson grabbed the mic and turned from tour guide to MC. Anthony Jeannot was first up in our comedy night, with hilarious, cringeworthy stories about his day job. Beau Stegmann followed by nailing his set and providing a thoroughly enjoyable conclusion to the night’s escapades. And by conclusion, I mean jumping in the beer van one more time for a return drop-off at Beer DeLuxe, where I happily continued my craft beer journey with a few of my fellow passengers.
