Pretty Mama is the latest eatery launching in Melbourne’s West End. The west side of Melbourne’s CBD is going through a culinary uprising of late with many of Melbourne’s famous chefs testing the waters in uncharted territory. The home of Pretty Mama is just off Spencer street in the connecting laneways of the freshly completed West End residental towers, bringing fresh and tasty Caribbean cuisine and tiki inspired cocktails to city inhabitants.
The Plus Ones were lucky enough to be invited down for their media launch to try out a range of scrumptious delights. The menu is centered around the impressive wood burning grill that sits in the cosy open kitchen. The grill brings the authentic smokey aroma and flavours to items like their tasty Jerk Chicken and melt in your mouth Blackened Monk Fish.
Accompanying the food was a selection of the tiki-inspired drinks menu featuring a refreshing Jamaican ginger beer, and also the favourite of the night: a take on the Mai Tai with a twist of banana that I can’t wait to go back for.
Pretty Mama’s interiors are inspired by the island bar and make for a great escape from the office for a quick spot of lunch or some much needed after work cocktails. If you work or live west side like I do you will welcome Pretty Mama to your list of near by options. The area is slowly breaking its hum drum corporate image with some exciting establishments such as this one so get down and check it out before it gets discovered!
