We love it when a group of like-minded people come together and create something special. With St. Jerome’s Rooftop Hotel Melbourne has gained (temporarily) a gorgeous, green urban landscape in an unused space on one of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings.
St. Jerome, The GPT Group, and Melbourne City Council have re-shaped Melbourne Central’s rooftop and pulled off the almost impossible. The hotel will host a number of events over its duration (which is thus far still an open question) and it promises to give Melburnians an experience we haven’t had before.
We were invited along to the media launch this week, with Melbourne turning on the sunshine just for the event. Champagne in hand, we got to experience what all the hype is about.
The tipi-style tents themselves are decked out in luxury — it is ‘glamping’ after all, not ‘camping’ — with thick quilts, sheets and robes from Linen House and a mini-bar. The experience itself is decadent — French cham-pag-ne from Laurent Perrier, complimentary breakfast hampers, morning meditation, and the Swisse bodycare range in each tent. The Luxe tents are cozy and easily fit two while the Luxe Plus tents can hold a classy party.
The space will also host a General Store that will stock a range of curated goodness for guests to enjoy.
The official opening is on 20 May 2015 for a limited time — stay posted on St Jerome’s site to stay in the loop.
